Adam Urban, who has won the respect of all who have wtached him fight in 2012, finally got his win after 3 reversals at The Phoenix Fight Night.
Urban faced the tall but less experienced James Harvey over 3 rounds of White Collar Boxing.
James Richardson in the Bulldog corner with John Whittam managed to keep the 'Polish Turbine' under control and making use of all the skills he has learned from previous encounters and in the gym. This was the difference as although he had yet to score a win up to this point, he had good skills and footwork which were a little too much for Harvey on the night.
Both men took big shots but it was Urban who looked cleaner and more accurate as he piled in the combinations at a high rate from the first to the last bell.
A clear decision for the Bulldog fighter but all due respect to the less experienced Harvey who was never phazed throughout!

There is not much you can say about John Orchards (Team Bulldog) return to the ring! Actually there is plenty, but the point is it was a faultless display of accuracy, power, movement and skills against an excellent boxer in Shaun Law (Dragonfoot).
Law is a veteren of over 100 contests. He has never been stopped or even floored, but even he had to admit that he had never been hit harder or more often.
Law started well and looked as though he would give Orchard all sorts of problems, but the Bournemouth fighter soon settled into the contest and from there it was a masterful display. Each body shot had us all gritting our teeth - all except Law who showed no emotion and fired back with his own shots.
There were exchanges, excitement and toe to toe action but only one winner.
A gracious Law was the first to admit that he had just been handed a lesson, but at only 22 he has a long way ahead of him. But tonight, it was all about the man who is still at the top of is game.
John Orchard - back in the mix! |

Oh ye of little faith! The knockers and doubters who questioned Natalie Bees (Team Bulldog) comeback fight were made to eat every word as she turned in a career best performance, winning every round against current European champion Lisa Schewe (Germany).
Over the experimental distance of 5 x 3 and without shin and foot protection, Bee dominated against a world class German.
Schewe's kicks were awesome and turned Bee's mid section red raw, but the multiple world champion would not be denied.
The response to each kick was numerous punches and a kick of her own, all of which Schewe ate without complaint.
This was one tough contest but the difference was always Bee's fitness which helped her maintain a pace throughout.
Her natural body clock saw her up the pace in the final minute of each round and even up it again in the final minute of the contest.
Two world class females and a fitting return for the Queen Bee, a runaway winner! |

John Whittam(Team Bulldog) made his return to Kickboxing to face undefeated Christopher Plouvin (France) over 5 rounds of KBX.
This was a classic Kicker V puncher encounter at the highest level with the Frenchman controlling the early pace with strong kicks and good movement.
As they settled in Whittam began to deflect the kicks and land with solid punch combinations. He also tagged kicks onto the end to score handily.
Plouvin never let the pace slip and as soon as Whittam stood back a little he smashed those kicks in again scoring much needed points.
It was a tough contest to score but it seemed as though Plouvin had taken the first 2 rounds with Whittam winning rounds 3 and 4. So it was all on the final round.
Again there was nothing to split them and at the final bell a draw seemed a fair solution.
This will be another re-match for 2013! |

Martin Saxon (Team Bulldog) returned after a lengthy lay off to face the skilful and very tall Jan Verdai (Norway).
This was an absorbing contest with Verdai keeping Saxon at length temporarily. But the Bulldog fighters lateral movement allowed him to get under the Norwegians jab early and set the pace.
Working the body and uppercuts Saxon used up a lot of energy and although he was clearly ahead at the mid-way point there was a hint of fatigue setting in.
However Verdai looked the more tired which fired Saxon up for a strong finish and a conclusive victory! |

In yet another Bloodline V Bulldog clash Paul Williams(NRG) won the battle of the heavyweights, defeating Adam Urban (Team Bulldog) with a hard fought points decision.
Williams looked more skilful on the night and handled the 'Bulldog Turbine' throughout. There were some rocky moments as Urban ploughed forward unleashing combination punches but Williams soon had things under control again.
The middle part of the contest was more even but each time Urban stepped up Williams seemed comfortable and had the toold to deal with it.
He has ventured into KBX but White Collar Boxing is his strength and turning back this challenge to win a unanimous points decision showed this. |

Although competitive, Bloodline fighter Mark Laycock (NRG) fell short against the more experienced Juris Poskus in their KBX match up.
Laycock had a superb winning outing under White Collar Boxing rules in August, but on this occasion he seemed to do the complete opposite of his game plan.
Call if big fight night nerves if you like but he allowed Poskus to control the action a little too much. Both men kicked and punched a plenty but it was Poskus who was more effective throughout.
Laycock showed signs of stepping up a gear in the final round but Poskus more than matched this to run away with a points decision! |

Paul Meyer (Team Bulldog) kept his mouth shut for this one. He trained hard and raised plenty of money for the BC Club charities.
Ross Dunham (Dorchester Martial Arts) launched a trash talking Facebook campaign to let everyone know what the outcome would be. Unfortunately it wasn't.
Meyer, played in live by Dan Sealey from Ocean Colour Scene, started fast and hard and looked fantastic.
Dunham took a moment to absorb it all and began his own onslaught. There was an exciting trade and it was clear that this would be a short encounter. Meyer looked in charge and as the round came to a close Dunham took a count.
However, it was clear that he had an additional injury. His shoulder looked to be dis-located but he continued. Meyer would not be denied and after a final barrage the referee stepped in.
The ringside medical team worked on his shoulder before sending him to the hospital.
A stoppage win for Meyer but the burning question is - would Dunham have been able to continue?
Some say no, he says yes! The re-match in 2013 will decide!
