Countdown To Executive Stress: King Back In The Mix! PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Tuesday, 26 February 2013 17:02

SHAUN-KINGShaun King returns to the fold in what he hopes will be the start of a busy year for him.

Following his recent epic charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, he now gets back down to business with a White Collar Boxing bout against Estonian Karol Spyt.

Spyt will be out of his comfort zone, preferring K1 rules but as always, it is important to keep active and White Collar Boxing offers that opportunity.

King is taller and more experienced. Spyt is tough and uncompromising. It's a good match!

Countdown To Executive Stress: Giles Gets Burnley! PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Tuesday, 26 February 2013 16:52

dave-gilesDave Giles has had several changes of opponent in the lead up to 'Executive Stress'. We have finally settled on Chris Burnley, the original opponent for Craig Jones.

This will be a tough fight for both men. Giles is a little more experienced but has been away for a bit, whilst Burnley is chomping at the bit to make his debut.

A decent performance either way will see one or both of these men offered slots on the bigger events this year!

Executive Stress 3 2nd March: Deano Turns Pro! PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Tuesday, 05 February 2013 14:45

dean-alexanderDean Alexander knuckles down for his first contest of the year Under K1 rules.

This will be the amateur stars debut pro outing and he has not taken the soft option that's for sure.

He faces the excellent Lawrence Flanagan from the famous Lumpini Gym owned by Sean Toomey.

It's a cracking match up that could even be the fight of the night. Both men will be strong in technique including clinch.

Flanagan has the bigger punch but Alexander is more experienced and likes a war. He is no stranger to the canvas but usually gets up to return the favour.

We are hoping for a succesful transition into the pro's and a busy year for Alexander, but Flanagan will have other ideas!

Executive Stress 3 2nd March: Norman V Hodgkinson - Repeat Or Revenge? PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Tuesday, 05 February 2013 14:33

CLARA-NORMANClara Norman V Jo Hodgkinson is on again under Kickboxing rules on Executive Stress 3 2nd March.

The first match up between these two was a cracker and showed us all what female kickboxing is all about. Hodgkinson came out banging and forced Norman on the back foot to claim the first round. But Norman responded in the 2nd and 3rd, stepping up several gears to take the points decision.

This is a bloodline clash so there is a lot of internal pride at stake, and both girls are looking for a stoppage. It would be fair to say that both have also dramatically improved since their first meeting.

All in all it makes for an exciting and mouth-watering. Neither will give an inch and if one or both go down at any point, you can be sure that they will get right back up again!

Tickets are available @ £25 from any fighter or from Bulldog HQ (01202) 294223

Executive Stress 3 2nd March: Jones To Face Burnley! PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Tuesday, 05 February 2013 14:24

craig-jonesCraig Jones looks to bounce back from his period of injury which saw him miss the last Absolute Adrenaline.

He faces Chris Burnley under White Collar Boxing rules over 3 rounds.

Jones has had a mixed bag of results but has shown that he can perform when he trains correctly. However, he has also shown that a keen young novice can outwork him if he does not apply himself.

Burnley will be one of those keen young novices so you have to mark this down as an even money encounter. Jones will have the experience whilst Burnley will look to just walk through him. Jone's chin and reslove are strong so a stoppage looks unlikely, and if he is on his game, he equally could boss this contest.

Tickets @ £25 are available from any fighter of from Bulldog HQ (01202) 294223

Executive Stress 3 2nd March: Giles Returns To The Fold! PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Tuesday, 05 February 2013 14:13

dave-gilesDave Giles returns to the fold after a few years out, appearing on the ‘Executive Stress’ event at The Phoenix Academy on 2nd March.

Although from a Kickboxing background, he faces the talented James Harvey who was outgunned last time out against an in-form Adam Urban. Although he was beaten on points, he showed courage and determination which will serve him well in this contest.

We last saw Giles in 2009 when he dropped a decision to Jefferson George on Absolute Adrenaline at the o2 Academy.

There is not much between these two and fighting at a lower weight than previously this should be an entertaining affair over 3 rounds.

Tickets are available @ £25 from any fighter or through Bulldog HQ (01202) 294223

Next Interclub: Sat 16th Feb PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Friday, 11 January 2013 20:34

NEXT-INTERCLUBOur first Interclub of 2013 will be held on Sat 16th Feb at The Bulldog Ultimate Training Academy HQ.

This will cover all stand up arts including Thai Boxing, Kickboxing, Boxing & K1.

As always this will be a light continuous event with special new rules implemented to ensure that contact is kept at the correct level.

There were several episodes of excessive contact during the latter part of 2012 and this will not be tolerated from any participant or club.

In 2013 it will be 1 warning and then disqualification.

Since re-introducing the Interclub in a smaller format to our calendar of events we have been successful in keeping contact at the correct level in order for participants to be challenged but not hurt. This will be re-emphasized in 2013.

Also: EVERY MATCH MUST BE PRE-MATCHED AND PRE-PAID. THERE WILL BE NO ON THE DAY MATCHING.

Coaches, you will be responsible for gathering entry forms and fees from your students in good time.

The closing date for this event will be WEDNESDAY 13th FEB.

Rules and regulations regarding compulsory equipment are available from Bulldog HQ. All participants MUST HAVE THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT.

Interclubs can be a long day and they are made longer by all of the above not being adhered to. This will not happen in 2013.

Everyone is welcome and we look forward to your help in making this a smooth running success.

FEES: In 2012 we had spectators attempting to enter for free because 'They were only coming for one fight'. The fee below is for entry - it is up to you how long you stay for.

We do not charge for under 5's.

Fighters: £10 (including a trophy / medal)

Spectators: £5

More details to follow. Entry forms available form your coach or from Bulldog HQ (soon to also be available online)

Please email or call (01202) 294223 if you have any questions

Phoenix Fight Night: Urban Gets The Win! PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Thursday, 13 December 2012 12:17

2 adam-ubanAdam Urban, who has won the respect of all who have wtached him fight in 2012, finally got his win after 3 reversals at The Phoenix Fight Night.

Urban faced the tall but less experienced James Harvey over 3 rounds of White Collar Boxing.

James Richardson in the Bulldog corner with John Whittam managed to keep the 'Polish Turbine' under control and making use of all the skills he has learned from previous encounters and in the gym. This was the difference as although he had yet to score a win up to this point, he had good skills and footwork which were a little too much for Harvey on the night.

Both men took big shots but it was Urban who looked cleaner and more accurate as he piled in the combinations at a high rate from the first to the last bell.

A clear decision for the Bulldog fighter but all due respect to the less experienced Harvey who was never phazed throughout!
