| Phoenix Fight Night: Chaunt Takes Gilman! | | Print | |
|
Chaunt was shorter and came in low making it hard for Gilman to use his trademark jab. Towards the end of the round he began to get a grip but not before he had shipped plenty of punishment. As the fight wore on he speared Chaunt with long jabs and right hands that seemed to have no effect. Chaunt just marched forward at a terrific pace. You could be forgiven for thinking that he might gas at any time but there was no sign as he piled on the pressure relentlessly. A lesser man would have folded early but such was Gilmans determination that he forced his way back into the contest with clean, stinging shots. But Chaunt would not be denied and he ran out a 30-28 winner on all 3 cards!

The super aggressive Rod Chaunt (NRG) caught the cool Paul Gilman (John Whitam Training) by surprise with an early onslaught that had Gilman at sixes and sevens.
