| Marco Valvo: Another True Warrior! | | Print | |

With a full corner team in attendance, frantic attempts were made to contact Valvo (who had opted to travel doen seperately and was therefore only missed as the start of the event grew close and he had not arrived). There was initial concern that he may have had some sort of emergency as there was no answer on his phone. However, having finally contacted him and established the error (at 7.30pm when the event was well under way) Valvo did what most people would not have done - He got straight in his car and made the two hour drive to appear. Back at the event, his opponent was informed ( fortuntaley he was still there)! And the promoters switched the bout to later on the fight card. When he arrived he literally got out of his car and laced up his gloves! His per-fight medical and weigh-in complete, there was 20 minutes to warm up and he was on. His opponent Adrien Kotik was awkward and busy which made for an interesting match up. It was clear that Valvo was not at his best due to the circumstances but he turned in a good performance over 3 rounds, dropping a split decision. It was so close that there was literally one round on one scorecard that decided the result. Judge A: 27-30 Judge B: 28-29 Judge C: 30-27. Regardless of the result this was a credit to the dedication of Marco Valvo, going the extra mile to see out his commitment. We look forward to seeing him again in the New Year!

A communication mistake left Marco Valvo expecting to come to Bridgwater last Sunday to compete in his second White Collar Boxing bout - when in fact it was scheduled for Saturday.
