|Absolute Adrenaline...Never Mind Results: Allen Stopped In 1st!||| Print ||
Mark Allen lost his unbeaten record against the highly touted Damo Weedon (Phoenix Academy) in their Pro K1 rules match up.
Both men are warriors and this was always going to be about who jumped on the opportunity first.
In this case it was Weedon who came storming out with heavy punches which stopped Allen in his tracks. He was, however, soon into the swing and let several high roundhouse kicks go. They were all blocked and Weedon returned with multiple punch combinations. Allen tried another jumping kick but was caught flush with another right hand which sent him down for a count.
He was up at 6 and tried to pull Weedon into a clinch, connecting with a strong knee to the head. Weedon look stunned for a split second but his excellent fitness saw an almost instant recovery followed by a barrage that sent Allen down again.
He made the count but was still shaken and following a third knockdown the contest was called off by referee Howard Hughes.
Allen fully recovered but on the night he was beaten by the better man!
