| Gen X: Rocha Ruins Berik! |
|
Paul Rocha, at a crossroads in his career and coming off a loss, asked for a big test, confident it would bring out the best in him. The test was "The Gate Keeper" Sami Berik. Massively experienced, very unpredictable but totally likeable. Berik was expected to put in his usual fast and awkward start and this was where the test was going to be. Rocha was having none of it and seemed to be on fire as he tore into Berik and closed down all his options straight away. Rocha looked strong and confident and was clearly unfazed by what stood before him and as soon as the fight went to ground he totally dominated, hitting Berik from all angles. Berik was cool and relaxed but could not avoid the shots. He moved to stand but Rocha caught him in a side choke and at 0:55 secs it was over. This was certainly the win of Rocha's career and he can look forward to good things in 2010 if he chooses.
